Drive axle removal for Clutch Plate project

Post by trollaj » Thu Aug 30, 2007 7:04 am

Gents,
I'm replacing my left side clutch plates. I'm looking at the inner axle that supports the clutch basket/brake drum; does the inner axle need a puller, or is there a set screw, or is there a cotter pin holding it in place?

The outer axle came out with ease, now the inner axle has me worried that if i use a puller i might tear something up/rip it out and cause needless damage?

Any help would be appreciated!
Jon

Here is a link to John Deere parts catalogs. Just type in your model and pick from the results. I like to use the alphebetical results and click on C for clutches etc.
