New Sulpher Deisel Fuel

Post by JR » Tue Oct 16, 2007 5:25 pm

I called my fuel supplier to fill my tank today an they tell me the new law to supply low sulpher deisel is in effect. They also say to check with engine manufacturers in regard to fuel additive as this new fuel may not properly lubricate. Any thoughts about this?

Check with your Deere dealer and tell them the engine size and fuel suppliers concerns they will have an additive for the fuel Depending on application and amount of use I have herd that you can mix differently. We all will have to do this as the new diesel is upon us .The lube factor is the biggie but less sulpher will actually lube better in some areas and I think the valves need sulpher the most .The rings just don't need that stuff in any quantity any way.Digitup.

A big thing with the sulphus is in the seals of the injection pump. THe older pumps rely on the sulfur to keep them lubricated. I know Deere offers an additive that is supposed to suppliment the new ULSD.

Hi,

I use a mixture of diesel cetane booster and Marvel Mystery Oil. The local auto parts store stock the booster in something like 1/2 gallon bottles and the Mystery Oil in 40 oz bottles, which I mix into a gallon jug. I then put the mix into an old Sta-Bil measuring bottle and use 2 oz of the mix per 5 gallons of the diesel. That should give enough lubrication to keep mechanical injection pumps and injectors happy. I also use it in my Power Stroke truck engine.

Deisel additive

Post by JR » Wed Oct 17, 2007 3:36 pm

Talked to my bobcat dealer today and he sold me an additive called Stanadyne/64oz does 250 gal. It stops gelling, lubes, increases cetane, demulsifies water, and is compatable with 5 percent bio-deisel.

According to their website, http://www.biodiesel.org, biodiesel will replace the lubricity in the ultra low sulfur diesel. In Europe they have been using ultra low sulfur diesel for years, many countries have either B2 or B5 as standard diesel at the pump.

My fuel distributor says that you should not worry about this as low sulfur is no giant step .Just fuel up and go to it and the old motors should have some less smoke on throttle up .Digitup.
