350B steering

Post by dale » Mon Feb 04, 2008 6:54 am

Got the new to me machine home Sunday morning. Didn't notice before, but it has the larger ROPS setup too. Upon closer inspection, the cylinder powering the steering linkage is sloppy. There is almost no resistance on the left side as compared to the right. Any tricks I need to know about these?

On the brighter side, I pushed open an old access road (~75 yards) and dug out a 18" beech stump before dark. I like the 4n1 bucket, but think I need to find a regular bucket or maybe forks for most of what we want the thing to do. A diverter valve for the hydraulics would be nice too.

if your one of the lucky ones to have a 4n1 bucket, hang on to it,is there a reason you don't like it?

Didn't say I wanted to part with it, just need an "instead of" for what I want it to do. The 4n1 is a very heavy bucket and makes the machine feel tippy all the time. Is it a big deal, probably not. Maybe I'm just to used to having quick attach stuff and bucket changeovers aren't an issue. :P
Once we're done clearing and grading it'll be used more for the sawmill than anything else. Forks and/or a grapple would be a better setup for that.

Got a new cylinder seal kit installed. Adjusted the right side and all looks ok. On the left side, the brake crank arm is very sloppy. I can reach in and pull it up into position, but it won't stay there. From the diagrams I have, there aren't any springs , so what holds it in place? Woodruff key, foot brake adjustment???

The 350s were always front heavy if you had a clam or 4/1 bucket on them .If you make a quick couple for it keep close to the bucket hinge pin as these little Deeres get tippy and powerless if you get too far out front .One of my customers has one he has a log clamp or 4/1 bucket or pallet fork on it [ works great ]..Digitup.
