350B Flange axle seals

Post by dustin502 » Sat Jan 03, 2009 12:46 pm

Does anyone know where I can buy the flange axle seals for my 350B? Part # is AT36097. Deere wants $221.00 per side for just the seals. I sure would like to find them a little less expensive. Any advice on what to look for when I get it apart? Or installation? I dont want to sound cheap but, that is alot of money for seals! Thanks for any help or advice.

Dustin see if Lavoy can get you some those seals .It should be easy to find and Chicago Rawhide made them for Deere any way.If Lavoy can't get them Get a CR# from most good automotive shops The bearings and races should also be easy enough to find .Digitup.

The deere number subs to an SKF number of 38751. SKF aquired CR some time ago. Its a special seal in that its 2 rubber "toric" rings pushing two lapped metal surfaces together. Cat calls it a "duo-cone" seal. Dont know what name Deere coined. During installation cleanliness is the most important thing, make sure both bores are 100% clean and that nothing gets on the metal faces of the seal (except oil right before assembly). Before you install the axle into the final you need to spread a thin film of oil on the 2 metal faces . Dont get oil on anything other than the metal faces of the seals. Also make sure to get the 2 rubber rings seated completly in there bores.

digitup, Thanks for the reply. I'll check with Lavoy for the seals or the part #. It'll be a week or so before I'll be ready to buy. Thanks again

CatD8RII, Thanks for the info. I'll start looking for the skf seals. Hopefully They will be a good bit cheaper than deere.
