update

Post by mjl1369 » Fri Mar 06, 2009 7:39 pm

Have the dozer in a carport! thanks for the encouragement! Well today I got the final off with some obtuse angles, bad news all the brake linkage throwout and clutch shafts all froze ,Have worked the clutch pack loose from the final lost three fibers . The entire pack was a solid mass, now I see why there are so many of these out there It take plenty of time and a serious amount of patience to get it done! well I'm tired! Tomarrow gonna take off the housing so I can take it to be sandblasted and maybe be able to save various parts of the linkage!
If anyone has any of the smaller linkage parts I'll post what I need and maybe there's someone out there with one on a shelf!!! Thanks and I'll keep on posting!!!!!!

I got the steering clucth housing off today loaded up the parts and was off to the machine shop! completely sand blasted the steering clutch housing inside and out ! god what rust can do to the linkage!!!!!I had the brake housing for the clutch sand blasted too to remove all the rust! sanded flat all the metal disks and rebuilt the pressure plate everything was within specs so I left well enough alone!need a few bearings and a brake band and have to hunt down that steering lever #T23625 if someone has one or knows where I can get 1 asap would be appreciated
well searching parts !!! thanks for reading

waitin on parts!

Post by mjl1369 » Sun Mar 08, 2009 10:41 pm

well monday approaches I'll be calling around looking for four parts! I've found four places ,but am waitin to talk to lavoy in the am from this message board I've gained the confidence and the knowledge to fix my dozer! hell I know dozer mechanics around here but to get to my place costs$$$$$$ I figured I'm gonna own it so I better be able to fix it! I've oil bathed my housing and freed up the rest of the pins and shafts more oil more air I probably wouldn't suggest the sand blasting part but I really had no choice I just have to be very careful to make sure I get out all the sand more oil more air! keep ya posted mike

A long wait!!!

Post by mjl1369 » Fri Mar 13, 2009 3:38 pm

I've waited all week on parts ! 1 wrong part and have to wait 3 more days to get it here! I changed the bushing that goes to the trans case new pilot bearing!all new clutch disc's sand blasted the metla disc's, found out the height adjustment for the clutch fingers was 1.579 inches off of the brake housing so I've devised my own gage no time to wait for the gauge!adjusted and exercised the clutch fingers til the adjustment came back on all 3 the same! ready to reinstall the housing just waitin on a brake lever they sent me one for the right side different # than I ordered but such is life!!! if I got everypart of it the first time I would have been blown away! 1 part to go!!! keep ya posted !!!!!! I be Dozin!!!!!

Post by mjl1369 » Thu Apr 09, 2009 6:52 pm

First of all I'd like to thank this message board and all it's posters ! I've put my machine all back together with positive results! It will finally steer in both directions with the added power of both tracks powered, my property should be alot easier to clear! I got my finals back on I didnt have to do the other side she was frze up, eventually I'll do it but at this time I need my machine. I got the adjustment about dead on what a breeze it is when everything functions properly! I'm stiil workin on it I'm changing the manifolds next, The one I have is rusted through so I decided to change it out for another used 1. I appreciated being able to find answers to my questions here without having to actually be face to face !!!! Once again thanks!!! Mike Lavender 65 jd350 135cuin gas motor! and a great little machine!!!!!!

early 350

Post by mini kahuna » Fri Apr 10, 2009 8:50 pm

I have a soft spot for early 350's too, they are just a nice compact little dozer.
they are lightweight enough that they don't tear the ground up,but they push and dig really well for their size.
