I'm a little confused... My SN 204914T by the seat figures to be a 1974, I was told by the man I bought it from it was a 1984, but he wasn't to sure. When cleaning the engine today I found the tag and it has the following info:
Engine SN: CD3179D713685 3179DF
Unit Number: 03 BA713685
Made In Saran, France
Head casting # 62092
Block casting # 6217 R72962
My question is, is this a 179ci motor?
Is there another place on the frame that would have a sn besides the tag by the battery compartment?
Thanks-

Re: Engine Size Question...
We were selling 350s new when those French engines first showed up in the 350D series, late 1980s. Excellent engines. Deere made the switch after having quality-control problems with the US built engines. Early 350Cs had USA 152s, and late 350Cs had USA 164s. 350Ds had Saran, France 179s.panicbutton wrote: Engine SN: CD3179D713685 3179DF

Keep in mind also that the 179 has been the standard replacement engine for all 350s for years. It's all Deere uses when recertifiying traded-in 350Cs.
