hydraulic adjuster seals?

Post by hugo » Wed Apr 01, 2009 4:34 pm

Hi

I'm not sure if i have the correct order of sealings for my piston.

Image

1 = the 'nylon' ring with the notch in it. Is this the correct position or should the notch be on the other side?
3 = thin backup ring.

Should i heat the big nylon ring in water or should it just pop on?

And,
is my old back up seal still here?

Image

Thanks for helping me!

Hugo: Looks like the old outer seal is still there. You have the u cup in the right position (#1) The back up washer (#3) should be on the other side of the u cup though. It's recommended that the u cup be heated in boiling water to make it more pliable. If you do this be sure to suspend it in the water if heating on a stove top or the like to avoid it sticking to the bottom of the pan. Or just heat the water first then remove from heat and place u cup in. Good luck. Steve.

Everyting went well until i pumped in the grease.
I thought i was on the richt track here but on the back side there was a little hole in there?!?!?!?!

Why is this here?

Do i have to weld it shut? Or am i missing some parts?

Thanks for your help!!!

Sounds like you lost the release-ball. Look at that threaded bolt with stop-nut on it . If you take it out, there is supposed to be a steel ball in there. When you tigthen that bolt against the ball, it seals that little hole. When you loosen the bolt, the ball comes off its seat and grease comes out that hole. It is used to loosen the track. Often, someone pulls that bolt out, th the ball comes out without being seen, and gets lost.
