I believe that the hydraulic pump on a 350 is up in the grill housing,in front of the radiator. Its driven off the front of the crankshaft pulley via a shaft. There is a big cast mount that the radiator mounts to that also mounts the pump. If you take youre grille screen and sand sheild out you can see the pump. I think that the 350 and 350B models had a disconnect to help starting.

New to this dozer stuff, working over own 450b, but been working on engines long time and even gasoline engines can make oil if the fuel pump is leaking internaly. May not have any noticeable effect on performance. Might go that route first. Lot cheaper than injector pump and if you know of one to try off other machine, all you'll be out is price of gasket.

Had a similar issue with my 350c several years ago. I had to replace the injector pump. Put it all back together and after running it for several hours, noticed the temp starting to increase. Shut it down and checked water level in the radiator and it was fine. Couldn't figure out what was making the temp increase. Oil pressure was fine. For some reason I checked the oil and it was out the top. Fuel had leaked in around the injector pump shaft. Pulled pump back off and replaced the seal and has been fine since.

Ken- you will want to search for JDEMaris's posts on this bulletin board about these same issues. He has a lot of tips regarding injector pump "rebuilds" and what to ask when a shop quotes you those costs. I think the reason you're hearing that CBC pumps can't be "rebuilt" is because individual parts are no longer available to do rebuilds. Again, search for those posts.

Ive had a few DB2 Stanadynes rebuilt by an injection pump guy in Maryland. Some for work stuff and some for me. One was off my 350C and cost about 500. That was a complete rebuild with new delivery valve, metering valve, transfer pump ,shut off solenoid etc etc. If i remember right it was about 200 in parts and 300 in labor. The darn solenoid was about 100 bucks. Id assume all you need is a shaft seal (unless the shaft is scored). I think one of the most expensive part of the labor is putting the pump on a test stand to check it. I wouldnt trust any rebuilder who doesnt.
