Wedges for front blade

Post by RMAC » Mon Aug 03, 2009 8:44 pm

Does anyone know where I can purchase the steel wedges that hold the blade in the tilt position on my 1965 450 crawler, the dealer tells me they are no longer available.

https://jdparts.deere.com lists them as part # T43740 @ $85.05 each.

Need to look under model 6410 bulldozer attachment.

If you have wedges that don't hold, it may be because the surfaces the wedges drive against are worn and need building up.

I sure wouldn't pay 85 bucks for a small hunk of metal. Find someone on this board that will measure them for you and have some made. The ones for my 350 are just chunks of soft steel machined to a taper. If you bought them at the hardware store they'd be about 5 bucks. I think I could have a whole set made for $85.

By the time you figure in setup and maching time at $85/hour or better, not real likely you can get them made on a single itme basis for $85. I have them for the older crawlers, but I had them made in quantity, that changes things a lot.
