Hi
Has anyone ever welded re-bar on the tracks to make them more aggressive?

Hi,

I've seen all sorts of metal welded onto the grousers to build worn ones back up.

Rebar probably would not be nearly tough enough to stand up for long, though. I can see you spending all that time to cut and weld it in place only to have it wear away right before your eyes!

I've never liked the idea of building the grousers back up without going through a machine to replace the other worn stuff. I would fear that the extra load on the other things would lead to a failure elsewhere that would put the machine in one heck of a 'fix'.....

later!

Sure have I gotta 450 right now in the woods that actually has 2 peices of 3/4" rod on each flight of the tracks. So it basically has 1.5" of addition to them, lets just say they are aggressive and if I have to move around the yard it peeles up sheets of sod. It was done this way when I bought it, it looks like it is octagon steel stock. No complaints from me. :D
