450c steering repair

Post by beebo » Tue Jun 22, 2010 5:35 am

Here is my latest fixing on my dozer. The left steering has never worked right since I've had it. Now I know why. It is rusted up and frozen. I almost have it all freed up except for a couple of pieces. And really not sure how I'm gonna do it.

My other headache is trying to get this dang steering cylinder off. It has a pin in it, but I can't get the dang thing off.

Now I know why my service manual doesn't match up to what I'm seeing on the dozer!! While searching for parts I've descovered that it isn't a 450C. I actually have a 450B. The lettering on the side says it's a C model but after running the serial number, I learn it's not. Now I get to get me a new service manual.

There's a big difference between the 450B's and C's, as you have probably found out ;)
(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment
