JD 350 won't move.

I'm looking at a 350B diesel with a reverser that doesn't move either direction. It makes a noise toward rear tranny/rear end. Makes the same noise in all gears and forward or reverse. Any ideas? Thanks Greg

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the coupler between the tranny and reverser. Lots of labour to fix as you need to pull the engine and reverser to get at it.

if it is the cupler, its best to go at it form the rear, take out the rear end, its not that bad, just my 2 cents

We didn't go that route as our 350C's are widepads, then you have to mess with outside bearings, axles, etc. We really get at it and we started at 7AM and by noon we had pulled the motor, loader assembly and reverser. Fairy fast with two guys, althought it took a better part of a day to reassemble.

I once had the same problem with the machine in the middle of nowhere. We had a dozer rather than a bucket loader, so we built a tripod, pulled off the canopy, nose and engine with a chain hoist followed by the reverser. Had the reverser rebuilt in a JD shop, and re-assembled the machine in reverse order. A lot of levering and some lifting and cursing to do, but the project was more time consuming than difficult - of course it rained on one of those days just to add to the fun. The machine was spread out on the ground, and looked pretty forlorn. I had experienced help during the reassembly so every thing was aligned carefully and torqued to spec so that there were no issues with shucking (loose connections) while the machine worked in its next life. I worked the machine two more years before trading it in on a larger 450c. Good luck. Paul
