coolant heater for 450c
coolant heater for 450c
I like to thank everyone for the help on my last two questions.
I want to go the coolant heater route, but I want to buy an aftermarket model(Deere dealer wants $179.00 for a deere, but it's probably not a Deere product) If anyone has a heater installed on a 450c crawler loader would be kind enough to reply with the make and or part number.
Thanks for the help again!

Here's one that I used to use when I had a 450c and 440 skidder. It is durable and fairly easy to install.

I ultimately replaced this with a set of female quick connect fittings with long hoses on my trucks and male connects on the equipment since I could warm up the equipment on the woods landing. Drive up, connect, let the truck run, do chores and then start the equipment. The swap of fluid cooled the truck, but warmed the equipment blocks. After one machine was running I'd move on to the second and repeat. I also made female to female hoses so that my bunching tractor could stay in the woods and be heated with the skidder. I carried the coiled hoses on the skidder.

You can go on the Kim Hotstart web site too. TPS model is a good one. 1000W, 120V is enough as Lavoy says. That's what I'm going to install on my 440.

Yes it is a gas engine. Is it an in-block heater that you can press into a frost plug hole?
Francois.

You are right. No heat loss outside the block with this kind of heater. I agree, Cat engines don't need that hehehehe. I don't like to mess with frost plugs... usually I work with engines with cooling system that contain 2-300 liters of coolant that's why... But in a 2 cylinders that's not the end of the world to drain and refill when the heater gives up.digitup2 wrote:That would be a better heater it would use 40% of the wattage and lose a lot less heat heating the block .I have several of these and hook a generator to the backhoe motors when not near a 110 volt outlet although they are Cat motors but a in block heater is very efficent heater .Digitup.
Lavoy how much for this heater ?
