Seal on track adjuster

Post by gerald » Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:42 pm

What way should the white Teflon seal go into the track adjuster houseing ? One side of the seal has rim an the other has taper .I'm thinking the rim side should be faceing the grease end an tapper end pushing up on the ram with 0 ring on it. It was in peaces when I took it apart. It fits either way but only one way is right. My service manual really don't say much about the track adjuster rebuild. Thank you gerald.

Actually Gerald the taper or lip side goes toward the pressure of the grease and the flat side goes toward the out side .Take a fine sand paper and go length ways only to smooth the shaft and clean up all rust then install some grease to let seal slide on shaft .Digitup.

Thank you Digup2. I'll pull it out check the direction . I used my cordless drill on low speed with a round drum sandpapper that fit snug inside bore to clean it up, it was't bad .
