Post by gerald » Wed Mar 02, 2011 7:31 am

Befor I got service manual. I bought 6 gallons 15 /40 motor oil for diesel engine, service manual calls for 30 weight oil . Should I use 30 weight ?

The multigrade should do as good watch your oil pressure cold and warm an older motor should work as good on 15/40 as sae 30 .There should actually be no difference in oil pressure from one to the other .The big thing is the newer oils have more additives that is all .Digitup.

AFAIK The only engine that really requires 30W or 40W oil is the 2-53 Detroit in the 440ICDs, most others will be fine on 15/40W oil.
