I have the receipts for all the engine work, and the part # on receipt says JD4219T. Im not too familiar with these machines, so It could very well be the 219. But Im learning....the hard way. I should have probly done some research years ago, before I bought it.

You will not get that front plate to fit the smaller blocks and the exhaust manifold is of 4276 Even the 4239 turbo was 3/4 of that size,That is a normal John Deere 555 of the day that was the Cadillac of crawler loaders in it's day .Remember Deere were just starting to build that engine and not much used it besides the 550 the 555 and a stationary power unit I don't think that motor ever hit farm tractors .that was made from 2/3 of a 6414 block basically There have been a few changes since that more than adding a computer and an inter cooler and calling it a 4054H it has been changed a few times but that is what they first looked like. I have owned too darn'd many.Digitup.

Heres a couple pics of the 276 in my 550. The first JD tractors to use the 276 was the 2630/2640. Also I looked up the turbo manifolds, both the 276 in the 550 and the 219 in the 450C use the same manifold.

Andrew, i think your right on the engine. If you look closely, your water pump is mounted higher than mine too, along with the filter location.
