Brake band stright 350

Post by gerald » Sun Apr 10, 2011 7:21 pm

I just finished the steering an brake on my crawer. When I put the new brake band on I had the bolt right to the end of the band lug, the band was tighter then the other side. I went to tighten it the bolt is locked up. . I ran it awile hopeing it would seat or loosen some it didn't. The machine is very nimble. I'm a bit concerned with the side that is locked up on the brake adjustment. Thank you Gerald

Something is odd, is the bolt crossthreaded by any chance?

Could be crossthreaded, or threads got banged up some how. They are kind of a pain to put in, easy to goof up if not careful. IF you end up taking it back apart, I would chase the threads in the band, and on the bolt as well.

Levoy The bolt on the brake band loosened up , so I tighten it 1 some an I smoked the brake no real harm dome just loosened it up, It shouldn't be that tight may be the band was thicker. So adjusting it by the book is a no go on that side. I'm haveing to pull way to far on the levers to turn. I.ll do serch where ya answered that question .Thank you gerald

I have found that I am running the brake bands 1/2 to 1 turn looser than recommended. If not, I am finding that as you use the crawler they seem to start dragging as things heat up.
