6 way blade controls

Post by snowbear » Wed May 11, 2011 12:30 am

I have a 350C when I turn the blade left or right and try to raise at the same time the blade falls. Is this normal behavior for the controls?

nope.

The valve port should hold a cylinder no matter where you put it. I am not familiar with your tractor. Yet it sounds as if you have a blown o-ring in the valve body. There maybe a kit for repairing it from Deere.

As the 6 way controls of the older 350s and 450s get worn out they tend to put down the blade when you twist the control for angle .So watch to see if this is the problem if so shim the main shaft tighter and the problem should go .Digitup.

Either Deere or Lavoy should have a rebuild kit for that.Digitup.

V-type seals are o-rings. They are a better type seal. Basically when pressure hits them they expand making the best seal.

John Deere should have them.

I think in many applications the hard V-type and soft O-type are interchangeable. On my JD 2950 tractor almost every O-ring on the machine was originally a plastic V-shaped ring. Well, long story short, unlike rubber o-rings, when they get old they get brittle and crack. That's why this series of tractors are widely known as rolling hydraulic leaks. Whenever I get a replacement from JD, they always give me round rubber ones to replace the original plastic V shaped ones.

good info. I am sure the seals in this machine are factory. I'll pull one apart and see if I can't replace with a std o-ring. I haven't looked, can the spools be taken out w/o removing the whole body, hoses, etc?
