350C Flywheel Access

Recently my 78 350C started making a metal on metal clanking sound near the rear of the engine. I parked it and was bumping the starter to try and figure out exactly where it was coming from. After I bumbed the starter a few times it locked up. I took the starter off and found a large piece of the starter housing had broken off. I suspect it is wedged between the flywheel and the housing. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the easy way to access the flywheel so i can see whats going on. Thanks.
