JD 350 steering clutch disks order
JD 350 steering clutch disks order
Hi All,
New owner here. Just bought a JD 350 that "only needs new brake bands" I have bought new bearings, bolts, seals, clutch disks, brakes and stripped the tracks off and removed the final drive. What a mess was found, the normal story of missing plugs and top covers missing. Anyway onto my question.
I am in a real serious hurry to get this machine working as 800 cattle arrive on Monday and fence needs to be built through swamp to keep them in. All posts about adjusting the clutch and brakes all have one thing in common they all say follow the manual exactly.
I have ordered the manual off ebay however it has not arrived yet and we normally have snail mail so do not expect it for 2-3 weeks.
Can anyone scan one and email it to me at rodgersavory@yahoo.com
I need to have the information about reassembly of clutch (what order the fibre and metal disks) and then all about how to set up all the adjustments.
Thanking whomever comes to my rescue in advance

Rodger The clutch an brakes are no big deal make shure you put a fiber disk behind the big snap ring the picture in the manual didn't show that. I rebuilt mine a few months back. I never did use the manual to adjust the clutches. move the turn buckle out for the steering clutches it actaivates the pressure plat setting the fiber disk to the steel disk. there is a 3/4 bolt that tightens the brake band . On top for adjustment the 3/8 bolt sets the brake with the steering clutches needs to engage first then the brake band, together they will make the 350 track lock an the free track push the dozer in a tight circle.

so the first fiber disc goes on then the snap ring then the steel disc and so on. im in the middle of rebuilding the rear end on mine and the snap ring was first then the fiber disc , i noticed that the fiber disc was cracked all the way around it as it was pushed against the snap ring .thanks the book doesnt sshow that.

Thanks for clearing this up as the manual was very vague, and I must admit the first fibre disk looks warped when the other side of the snap ring.
I am missing one snap ring so have made a fine quality one out of high tensile wire, however I cannot figure out what function the snap ring has. Does anybody know?
When I took both clutches all apart it had a snap ring on the right side which did not work (seized) while the one on the left had no snap ring and worked a bit.
So I am not sure what function the ring actually performs.

the hub ring is 15cm which is 6 inches, I am guessing you are talking about the other rings, the ones that hold in the shaft to drive the brake which is about 3" where there is one on each side holding it in place.
I made a hub ring from wire, and will only use it if I fail today to find the correct size ring in my search today

ok now I am getting confused, fibre disk, snap ring, fibre disk, metal disk, fibre disk, metal disk etc until full to the end of the hub, is this then correct as images in the manuals all show fibre then metal starting with fibre and ending with fibre.
Also my Deere parts salesperson said no rings, do you have a different parts number that she can use to get the right size ring?
