350 dozer w/6 way blade (hyd. cylinder problem)

Post by ey8675 » Mon Jul 25, 2011 11:59 am

I took left hyd arm off to put in new seal kit. Well, the cyl. has been worked on before and has a slight curve in the arm. New cyl. kit would not last w/o having a straight arm.

Where could I find a replacement (cyl. only or cyl. and casing)?

crawler cylinder problem

Thanks Kenp for the information. I've looked on some of the sites and able to replace the spline and other parts. I don't know why I didn't think of that before I placed my 911. It's tuff when you get 70....senior brain freeze. Thanks again.

Well for starters, I'm near Lansing, Mi. Fifty miles from Grand Rapids, Mt. Pleasant and + 50 to Ann Arbor. I prefer good used parts and a reputable supplier. I'd be willing to drive around 100 mi. to get the right part and supplier.

A good hydraulic cylinder rebuild shop can straighten the rod of a cylinder assembly. Do a search on the internet for "hydraulic cylinder rebuilder" and include your town and state in the search criteria and I'll bet you will find a place that does it.

I know because I bent the lift cylinder rod on a borrowed Chevy 30 series dump truck. A new cylinder was TOO expensive. I went to Cook Brother's in Binghamton, NY. They sent the cylinder assembly to a rebuilder in Buffalo, NY (I don't have the name and address anymore). The straightend the rod, put new seals in the cylinder assembly, and it cost UNDER $200! Needless to say, I dodged an EXPENSIVE situation!
