Steering adjustment on JD 450B

Post by JohnS » Tue Jul 26, 2011 2:40 pm

I have been trying to get my dozer adjusted. Before I started it could turn right no problem. Now after adjusting the left side as per the shop book it does not want to turn right. Can anyone help me on what is going wrong or how I have adjusted it wrong? I have been around heavy equiptment before but noe dozers that much. Just trying to get it to turn left better. It turns left very slowly.

It sounds like you misadjusted the left steering clutch to where it is always partially disengaged and not allowing the left track to move. This also seems indicated by turning very slowly (i.e. the brake band is not being applied fully). If the left track doesn't move (clutch slippage), no amount of pulling the right steering clutch is going to allow it to turn right.
