450 dozer final houseing
Im repaireing 450 dozer with dry clutches . There is 3/4 plug on both finals houseing on the out board side up high. What are those plugs for? The clutch houseing is oil soaked bad . I have already replaced the front roller an track adjuster easy 500$. This clutch houseing on the 450 weights more then my 350. I believe I need a shop for the 450 dozer clutches.

It's all in the manual. Remove track, sprocket. Then pull the pinion and drive shaft through the clutch. You need to support the clutch while doing that and then it just pulls out the top.
I'm sure the experts here will set me straight but that's how I read the manual.
You can download the manual for $33 at the deere web site.

You just have to split the tracks and take the sprockets off, then you can pull pinion out through the final. The service manual I have says to remove the final drives when removing the clutch packs, but by all accounts I've read, this is not necessary on the 450/450B, but is on the 350/350B. Here are some photos of Panmark doing it on his 2010 which is not the same final, but it is the same idea.gerald wrote:Really I would like to know how that could be preformed

Thank you I went back an looked the 450 over. Evey thing needs to be removed up top to remove the steering. The 450 im working is a very nice machine it has no reverse or power steering. the clutches are runied with lots of oil. They dont want to fix it because it still steers sometimes. I might can pick it up cheap.Thank you Gerald. It also has a new engine 3 years back. Thank you gerald
