JD 450C Intermittent Drive Problem

Post by jamies » Sun Aug 28, 2011 12:17 am

Can someone please help ????

A while back I purchased a JD 450C for farm use.
The machine is clean and tidy condition and runs well however it sometimes it loses drive almost as though the oil isnt pumping.
There are no strange noises and then it begins to drive again

The problem seems worse on an incline.

I got a poor photocopy of a manual with the machine and according to the book there is a transmission filter screen that needs to be cleaned regularly.
Talking to the previous owner who had the machine for 15 years it appears that he was unaware of this procesure and the screen has never been cleaned.

Could the drive problem be a dirty screen or pickup ?

Because my manual is a photocopy I cannot see the photo properly.

Could someone please give me advice on my problem ?
Where is the transmission filter screen and how is it accessed

Also are there any specialists for this machine based in Melbourne Australia ?

Yours Sincerely
Jamie

You will have problems like that if you don't get enough steady oil pressure to the clutch packs .I am dam near sure there is a screen on the bottom end of the pickup unit. also make sure that you have lots of oil . .Digitup.

i cleaned the screen in the belly and replaced the one in front of the radiator....
