350 front idler

Post by howdy1720 » Fri Sep 02, 2011 12:27 pm

My cousin has asked me to try to find some parts for his JD 350 crawler. The front idler is in bad shape, and it needs to be replaced. I don't know where to go for a used one or whatever. JD I guess no longer services this part. Can anyone give me some help?

You can buy the shaft, bearings and all the shims aftermarket of from deere. Or you can buy a complete from berco, I called today and they're about $750 each side complete w/ the arms.

Thanks! I will check this out. The only problem that I see with it all is that he does not want to spend a lot of money, but I guess he will have to make that decision.

Someone's avatar on this site has "no such thing as a cheap cawler" and for good reason..
if it's worn it needs to be replaced, I bet it needs more than just an idler too as it all wears as a set.

It is possible to find a boneyard 350 crawler with a halfway decent front idler- although I would venture to guess that it would still be at least a third to one half the price of a new aftermarket one.

Like the previous post says, the undercarriage generally wears as a set so all you would be doing is prolonging the inevitable destruction of the entire undercarriage unless the other components had been recently replaced.

Since the front idler is a heavy part, it would be helpful to know your location to recommend a local boneyard.

I am located in central Ohio. I have heard that there are places that may have some used parts, but I agree with all the previous comments in that there is probably more to be fixed than just the front idler. Thanks!

There is a fairly large salvage operator in Camden, Ohio that has older crawler parts- Roberts Farm Equipment:

You may want to try them.
