GREASE

Post by BILL T » Sat Sep 24, 2011 7:10 am

I JUST INHERITED A JD 350B, YEAR 1974, DIESEL, WITH 6 WAY BLADE, WITH @ 2300 HOURS. COULD ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF GREASE TO USE IN ROLLERS AND IDLERS? I HEAR JD CORN HEAD GREASE IS THE BEST OPTION. ALSO, I ONLY HAVE A REGULAR LEVER TYPE GREASE GUN. HOW DO I TELL IF I HAVE ENOUGH GREASE IN THERE WITHOUT DAMAGING ANYTHING? I WILL BE USING THIS FOR LIGHT WORK AROUND THE FARM. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

I have been asked many times how much grease is too much grease well when the water dirt and crap stop squeezing out of the seal you are just about there .Pump till clean grease appears.rollers have plain bearings but even roller or ball bearings need clean grease .Pump the good grease in till the crap is done coming out there you did the beat grease job you could .Digitup.

The rollers org. took 140 gear oil if you use a reg. grease gun you can't feel when the rollers are full if you over fill you will blow the seals.... from JD they are $140 each i just bought(about $200 ouch but less than a roller set or 2 seals) a low pressure OIL gun for my 2010s and it works great you can feel when they are full i still use 140 in mine with button fittings... I agree with digitup IF the seals are junk then pump the crap out of them EVERY time you use it
