jtrichard wrote:Hey Dennis where did you get the brake lining? and what type material is it (IE semi metallic ? ) and what thickness was it and was there any problem with brake adjustments because of turning the drums?
this is from one of his early posts, read this post and he will tell you where all the parts came from, their part numbers and how to do it.

Gosh..... All I want to do is replace the lining on Brake Bands.
Somebody please tell me I don't have to remove the sprockets and do a tractor disembowelment in order just to get the brake bands off and back on?!?!
I think I'd rather open my veins with a grapefruit spoon as to do all that work right now!
Respectfully,
Stacy Whetzell

You can replace the brake band on straight 450 and 450B without taking the final drive and sprocket apart..
they are hinged in the middle for this reason... I still find it alittle easier when taking out the old one to tie the new one to the old one... then as I pull out the old one the new one follows it around the drum....
will not work on C,D,E models.. mark.

I can get new brake bands, don't have any in stock right now, but they come on my regular orders.

THANKS guys!
I'll gladly remove the ROPS, boxes and tank to keep from having to take chain and sprockets off. I did the latter on an old 60's model cat d4 and it was blood sweat and tears.
Lavoy, what are prices for brake bands?
Thanks so much all
Stacy

Can't do any checking right now, but seems to me $275 for both halves.
