Where does the horn mount on my 1981 450C crawler /loader ??

Post by surferpete » Fri Nov 25, 2011 6:00 pm

I'm trying to replace a few extras (a little at a time ) on my 450C. I have both the tech manual and the parts catalog /manual...but neither has any info on this. If I have missed the page(s)...Please let me know where they are. If I am right, and there is no explaination...Please give me some insight. Hope "Farmerford" can give a little help. He just helped me to install my Tranny Pyrometer...and was right on!!!! Happy Holidays.....Peace, Pete

Pete there should be a 4 or5 inch piece of strap plate with holes on each end and it should be mounted to the left headlight mount behind the grill the horn usually hung just below the left light if lights were also installed my old 450B had both but that was a hell of a long time ago.Digitup.

I think my 450C originally had a horn too...lets the dump truck driver know when he's full...

Yes even the dozer 's had them but I don't know what you would use one for besides getting some ones attention just before you dozed them under.Digitup.

Or, it can be used when someone changes lanes in front of you and cuts you off causing you to drop your blade to help slow down so that you do not hit them from behind!

Seriously, it is to let the dump driver know to pull away when it is full.

When I was younger and dumber I had a bumper sticker that said "Horn broken watch for finger".....

I cannot really be helpful to the thread, my 450c is missing it's horn as well. I think there is a button for it though. When I worked at the quarry we always had the horns working to tell the driver to get out of the way. If we were short of material and it took a while to load we'd just have to hit the bed and rock the truck to wake them up.
