Kens pictures are exactly what it should look like. Unfortunately in the picture you posted of the seat compartment, the line I was looking at isn't the line for the backhoe. It looks like a replacement line for the loader hydraulics or something.
I think Ken is right that there is an orphan hoe out there some where. It wouldn't hurt to ask around and see what you might find. Do you know if this is a local machine originally? If it is, I would try to find the original owner and see what you find out. You may just stumble on to a perfectly good backhoe.
I would say that if you could find a local John Deere guy or someone who has worked on some of these older 350s and 450s they would be able to find the ports where the lines were originally. However Kens pictures show exactly where you should find them. It would just be a matter of unplugging them and installing new lines.
Ken is also correct about the ROPS mounts. I hate asking but a few pictures of the entire machine would help us answer a lot of questions.
I hope you get this thing sorted out. Then you can go have some fun with it.

Just a suggestion... John Deere has a good record of the machines they have sold. You might be able to take the serial number of your 450 by this dealer or any dealer for that matter and see if they can give you the original owners name and contact information. They will have it in their network some where.
I've done this in the past and have found things just by doing a little detective work. Just a thought...

I added 1 ft of 3/4 hose on the back of the hoe to make for easier connection. I have not advertised it on cregs list . I live in southeren N M . The bucket bushing are worn easy fix. The restbamaboy2006 wrote:Were are you located and would you be interested in selling the 93 model?

If you find a backhoe attachment and don't have the mounting bracket, I have a mounting bracket and don't need it.
Note they are real heavy to ship but I visit Tuscaloosa once in a while.

Added 12-10: Nevermind, I see in your picture you have one already.
