Temp Gauge

Post by RMAC » Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:38 pm

I recently had the engine rebuilt in my 450, and now when I operate the machine the temp needle seems to stay in the red for quite a while before the thermostat opens and brings it back to normal operating temp. Is this normal or should I replace the thermostat? I'm nervous that in the summer months it may overheat.

I can only speak for my little 450c but I can barely get it up to temp in this cold weather. IMHO if you are in the red at all in the winter you will have trouble in the summer. My thermostat was about ten bucks from JD ,if it were my money I'd replace it.

That's just my opinion and I'm pretty new to JD machines.
