450 radiator compatability

Post by tjdub » Mon Jan 30, 2012 11:40 am

The radiator in my 450 straight (HLR) started leaking. I don't have it out yet so I'm not exactly sure where in the radiator the leak is yet. Hopefully I can get it repaired, but just to keep my options open I started looking around online for used radiators.

It looks like the part number for this radiator (AT21846) was changed starting with the 450B (to AT116777) and remained the same all the way up to the 400G Does anyone know what would be need to be done to make one of those fit?

Also, is there any possibility that the powershift 440 skidders would have been the same even though they don't share any part numbers?

I am not sure about the compatibilities of the radiators. However, I would remove your radiator first and establish what the problem is. You may be able to have your radiator repaired rather than having to replace it. Take it to a good radiator repair shop and have it looked at. I have had those guys simply fix the radiator rather than trying to buy a new one.

Find a rad shop and price a re core of the rad it will be just like new and you can even get a three or four core some of those old Deere's were only two core.So depending on the top and bottom tanks you have for a bit extra it will be cooling better than new with an extra core set or two in it Don't be scared to put a few extra bucks in it .I think you can go to four core on the 450s .Digitup.
