injection pump rebuild

the injection pump does not seem to be pumping. I have a 1964 2010 diesel crawler. does any one have a replacment or knows how to rebuild it,

I can get rebuilt pumps, but they are not cheap, and there is a core charge.

I worked on truck diesels for many years and injection pump rebuilds should be done by a pump shop. I would also get a service manual for exact procedures. But before pulling the injection pump off for service first check a few items:

1. Enough fuel in tank?
2. Any cracked supply lines that are sucking air? Also check fuel filter?
3. Blow regulated shop air (about 10 psi) from supply pump hose inlet back to fuel tank to check for blockages/restrictions.
4. If above OK remove supply hose to injection pump and run into a gallon jug, crank engine over to see if supply pump is working. Should have a good steady flow and fill a gallon jug in about 30-60 seconds. If Ok make sure to bleed air out of injection pump.
5. If above ok crank engine a determine if injection pump is turning internally as you crank engine (checking drive of pump)
6. If above Ok than loosen high pressure lines at nozzles and crank engine. This will let any are out of high pressure lines. If fuel starts to come out tighten high pressure lines back up and see if it starts.
7. If it does not start once you have fuel at nozzles than its either lack of air (clogged air filter), improper timing or low compression.

If injection pump removal is requried timing is critical during reinstallation. Advanced will burn pistons and retarded will smoke and no power.
