Injection Pump Rebuild
I have a 1970 350 dozer, and I am getting the tiny pieces of rubber in the check valve on the pump. I clean it out and the dozer runs great, but then it looses power. I am thinking about pulling the pump off and fixing it myself. Where can I get a manual for the pump, I have the DB pump. Also what other special tools will I need and where can I find those. Is this something I should tackle or pay a shop to do it. I don't like paying other people to do something if I can do it. So any guidance would be great. Thanks.
If you are mechanical enough to own a 40 year old dozer, you are definitely mechanical enough to rebuild the pump. Do a search here, there are some well illustrated threads but you should really get a copy of the SM2045 service manual. Also look up my thread on the subject, as I did not wire the advance lever back the first time I installed it so don't make that mistake.
Where is the dozer located? There may be someone local to you.

John Deere has them, but Lavoy (the site owner here) may also have one for sale, send him a PM. You should also call your local library to see if they can get one for you to check out.
Here is the link to the JD page:
https://techpubs.deere.com/products/ProductResults.aspx
It looks like you have to type in "SM2045" into the window.
I also have to say, that while I was googling that title a link came up for the PDF online, though I suspect it is bootleg.

I had to "rebuild" my injector pump on my JD350 in 2009.

Especially the sentence, "When you get the manual, DO NOT follow it for disassembly of the pump BECAUSE they assume you are doing it in a pump shop and can test it after it is back together." You should NOT mess with the high pressure end of the pump! That end is not where you problem is.
BEFORE you remove the pump, mark the location/orientation of the pump with a scratch-all. Then DO NOT turn the engine just be sure the spot marks on the pump shaft and engine drive line up - see third and fourth images. I tried to follow the directions in the service manual and spent three days rotating the engine by hand to try to make the “book” alignment. WON'T do that again!!! Mark the location/alignment, pull it off, fix it, and put it back exactly the way it came off. That is essentially what I did, and the engine fired right up when the fuel got to the injectors - I DID bleed the lines like you are supposed to but didn’t get the results the service manual talked about, so just tightened the lines and let’er rip.
You WILL need a spline wrench which you can get here;
http://www.mgs4u.com/bristol-wrench-spline.htm
Order the S-291-6
The 8th image is of the “bristol wrench” called for in the service manual and a standard “L” bristol wrench. That is what I am using in image MVC-141S (which webshots.com has as #43)
I got the solid steel “governor weight retainer assembly” (part # 29111) and the “gasket kit (DB)” (part # 24371 from Thompson Diesel Inc.

I don't get on here much - WAY TOO much else needing to be done. But I have a broken track adjuster cylinder.
So, I hope this is in time to help you.

I also have the DB pump. Why might the injector pump freeze up? I finally got mine off and it snapped the drive shaft at the narrow section. Any recommendations where I can get a drive shaft? I've looked online and have found pumps, but they apparently don't come with the shaft. Thanks
