70's 450 engine oil change
hello, this is going to sound silly and please don`t make too much fun of me but where is the engine oil filler neck/hole. I do see a removeable cap that is very near the oil dipstick and was wondering if that is it. Doing some reading on the forum I've found posts about the other oils required (drains, dipsticks etc) but not much on engine oil. Just trying to do things right. My manual does not indicate what this filler hole is for and figured it must be engine oil.

Yes
You are correct on the oil filler cap.
You might want to get yourself familiar with all the fluids before working your 450 such as final drives, transmission, hydraulic and engine coolant. They last a lot longer when you take car of them.
We wrapped up 2 rebuilds this weekend (400 Deere hoe and 450 Dozer) but ran into a problem on 350c Dozer, we received the machine with a pulled and bad engine and in the process of changing all the fluids discovered a bad final drive seal. Took my dad and I a couple of hours to remove the final drive, install the seal and re-install the final drive. If we hadn't checked it might have worked but not for long.
My point is get to know your machine, source your self the operating and technical manuals as they have lots of info on maintains your 450.
