450B Radiator

Post by hodgdon42 » Thu Aug 09, 2012 6:14 pm

Anyone know where I can get a new or used radiator for a 450B? I was pushing over some small birch trees and one sprung into the side engine opening while I was backing up. Went threw the fan and punched a good sized hole. Im in Maine.

You might check here with Lavoy first. Not sure what all he has. E-Bay is another place to look or you could also "Google" for salvage yards out your way.
Another option is to take your radiator to a good radiator shop and have it re-cored and re-built. It's usually cheaper too. Some of these guys that are out your way may know of a place to pick one up select used.

I'm curious what this did to your fan? I suspect it is in bad shape as well? Just curious.

As Leonard mentioned, you will need to check the condition of the fan. If a blade is bent or cracked, it can fly off later and do further damage or hurt someone when you least expect it.

I don't have anything that late, and no new ones yet that I have found from my suppliers. Doesn't mean someone doesn't have them though.

when pushing over small brush you really have to be on guard .We had a backhoe operator push some brush down and backup as he did he crammed a sapling between the block and the injector pump .Guess which one lost yep I put a new pump on it and core value was 0$ Some 25 years ago I was cleaning up swamp when I heard a scream coming from the neighboring property I was working with a contractor next door we were cleaning up a swamp area I walked over to find the dozer operator pined to his 450D Deere with a sapling under his fuel tank through a small crack in the kick pan under his seat through the heal of his work boot and in his right heal and out by his little toe pushing his foot into the front kick board above the decelerator I never ran so fast for a set of bolt cutters in my life I remember saying this is going to hurt he was going into shock at that point and never remembered me cutting the sapling behind his foot [He doesn't even remember me grinding on that dam sapling with the bolt cutters ]several times we have laughed talking the day over that one happened but I try not to even leave the small stuff behind it can be a killer and always put the fuel tank guard back on after no mater how long it takes there is a reason for it so if you don't have a guard on then get one made PLEASE !!Digitup.

I think the sapling took and parted the the kick plate from the floor plate I know it went right in the middle of the heal at the seam then off the heal of his boot .That was a while ago and I never took his boot off They had that job in the hospital I drove his dozer to my truck and the big job was getting him in the truck at that point! I know I never thought much of the guy till that day and he avoided me as well but after that we had some thing in common at that point and he respected me for some reason to this day when he sees me he stops and talks shop.Digitup.
