450b I was looking to buy needed some advice

Post by howardjohn » Fri Aug 31, 2012 7:15 pm

Hello All Lots of good info on this sight. I found a machine on craigslist and was hoping to get some feedback. It is posting 3234169102 I noticed a missing tooth on the bucket but also the tracks look very loose. Just wanted to hear from people with more experience than me. Thanks and have a nice weekend Howard

Can you post a link to this machine?

That is a decent price for a loader with those options in my opinion. However because of the dry clutches and the fact it needs a total undercarriage it would be a tough purchase for me.

Can you do the undercarriage or will you have to pay someone to do it? Its a huge cost to consider.

Some strange sightings/descriptions with that loader.I'm almost positive that is not a B,but instead a D model. If you look close the letter D is there but the old style metal ''John Deere'' sign is on the hyd. tank[probably battery box side also] which would'nt be there if it was indeed a D. Could have been added on for whatever reason. Also, the owner states it's a early 80's rig which can't be the case if it is a B,but it would make sense if it was a D.Only a serial # check would clear this up.BIG difference in maintenance and performance between the 2.
