450C hydraulic leak.

Post by legend12 » Fri Nov 02, 2012 5:41 pm

I recently bought a 450C with a leak in the front. Removed the belly pan and found leak going to the oil cooler. Can not reach from front or underneath. Do you have to pull the weight or nose to get there. How heavy is weight? No experience working on dozer, learning as I go.

I think you will have to pull the nose and probably the radiator to get in there. There are threads on here about how to pull your nose with the correct cylinder locks and a come-a-long it's not hard at all. I can do it in 20 minutes.

When I had my machine tore down to service the radiator, water pump , and hoses is when I changed the hoses to the oil filter cooler. It was fairly easy to get to at that point.

There are a couple of 90 and 45 hoses the parts diagram calls for. They were readily available from Deere and 10 or 12 dollars, money well spent. If you try and do it with bulk hose they will crimp off.
