450b engine question

Post by howardjohn » Mon Dec 24, 2012 9:14 pm

Hello all, I had a question about the engine in a 450b crawler loader. The current owner stated the machine has a "newer 4039 engine" I am guessing that this is not the engine it came with?? What is the difference between the 2. Thanks Howard

Your 4039 engine is just what the owner told you... That being it is a newer engine than what was originally in the machine. Your 450B most likely had a 4219 engine in it from the factory. The number "4" being the number of cylinders and the "219" was the cubic inch displacement.
The 4039 is a Metric engine and the "4" is the number of cylinders and the "039" is 3.9 liter in displacement. Basically the same engine just newer and few design changes. Hope this helps!! :D
