Thrust plate won't be visible unless the roller is disassembled.

So the thrust plate is part of the rear bottom roller? Frank

Correct, inside of the end caps is a plate on each end that keeps the axle centered. If the plate or bolts break, the roller will walk back and forth til the end caps stop it.

Set screw goes into a recess on the axle to keep it from turning. For the most part, only seem to see these rollers on early crawlers, and then only if they have not been replaced.

the axle shaft in the roller does not turn there is a bushing in the roller that rides on the shaft with sae140 or roller/corn head grease to keep them cool and lubricated i have only seen the set screws in very early rollers like 440/1010

Sorry, should have clarified, the axle is stationary, the roller turns on the axle like JT says.

Easy to see the damage from the sprocket hitting the roller.

Image

The sprocket was hitting the roller on my 350b The 8 bolts that hold the rear cross member in place were..... 6 loose and 2 broken.

I loosened all 6 some more, centered the cross member with a sledge hammer, fixed the two broken ones and tightened all 8 back in. No more problem.

I hope your problem is as simple,

All I know is that I'm hoping that the rear cross member just needs adjusting.....................Frank
