propane starter helper
Here is my latest dozer addition .
it is a 5,000 btu propane heather , hooked to a normal BBQ lpg gas tank , I hooked it to the dozer with brass hydaulic quick connect, works lovely .
the apparatus have a bracket that you just use a vise grip on the track pad to hold it verticaly then you light up the propane and wait for 5 to 15 min that the block become warm and then fire up the DEERE !!
one of the good thing with this setup is that I can use it to my excavator as well, very usefull in the field when no electicity is not available for the zoer with a block heather .

" no clue what the Rube Goldberg is" You haven't lived. Check with google or wikipedia. A Rube Goldberg machine is very interesting.

Nice little heater
I think you have an excellent little heater there. Nice and quick for starting iron when it's cold out.
We just end up pushing what ever we want into the shop instead of firing it as we normally have a pair if 450C's and a forklift plugged in all winter if there isn't room in the shop.
My dad used his pickup back in the day to warm up the equipment when he logged and sesimigraphed in the winter time with quick couples between the cooling systems. Skidders, deere crawlers and even our D6C. They didn't shut down for cold weather like they do now.

Hi: When we had extremely cold temps, I used to use quick connects to my truck and equipment similar to those shown. We used to pull into the landing, plug in the crawler to the truck, have some coffee or do some chores, while the crawler engine warmed (and the truck engine cooled) from the transfer of coolant, then start it on its way into the woods. Then we would repeat with the skidder. This gave the chopper a head start on the day and some comfort knowing that the machines would at least start. On less cold days, we left the crawler in the woods, started the skidder off the truck, and then brought the hoses into the woods then used the skidder to warm the crawler, and the day officially began. The hoses were about 10 feet long which reached easily between the different sized machines.
I was concerned about sharing the coolants, but I serviced my machines regularly and there was never an issue.
I used hydraulic hoses since they were available and I used spare screw-in type Parker fittings. Today I'd look for a less expensive option since the coolant pressures are low.
Fun to reminisce - and I know what Rube Goldberg means, both literally and figuratively. Paul

I'm so proud of you!!! We now have another true intellectual on the forum!! Now you know who Rube Goldberg is!! I hope you know that I was only poking a little fun about it looking like a "Rube Goldberg contraption! I really would use the thing if I needed one.

becasue they don't sell directly to us end user nor selling any parts ,
I have two places to buy it but both are in Canada very close to where I live , that is the most help I can give you right now .
