350 gas fuel tank plugging
Well... everything seems to be working well, except I ran the tank dry and since then any sediment that was in the tank collected in the line. I blew back into the tank from the fuel pump, and got it open again. I know I should clean out the tank, but have some projects to do before I want to do that. Does the nipple thread into the tank or welded/soldered in? (its not apparent looking at it or on jdparts.com) Is there any portion inside the tank that sticks out inside the tank? My idea is to solder a small cupped screen on a piece of brake line the depth of the tank (so it can be removed), with a small ridge bent up to catch any of the sediment. Any other ideas?

Your fitting should thread into and then out of the tank. There should be, if it hasn't been removed, either a stand pipe or a screen on the end of the fitting that goes inside the tank. Some of these have both. there will be a tube sticking up above the bottom of the tank with a screen molded around the tube. Some tanks even have a sediment bowl molded into the bottom of the tank with a drain to get rid of water and sediment. Either way you should be able to screw the fitting out of the tank and repair what ever you need to.
