DIESAL ENGINE WITH A MISS
DIESAL ENGINE WITH A MISS
I HAVE A 350B ENGINE RUNS GOOD AT IDLE BUT AS RPM INCREASE OR UNDER A LOAD IT HAS A MISS FROM TIME TO TIME AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE COMES FROM EXHAUST I HAVE JUST REPLACED THE HEAD GASKET IT HAS NEW INJECTORS I REPLACED THE FUEL FILTERS ABOUT 8 WEEKS AGO REPLACED FUEL SHUT OFF AND LINE FROM TANK TO PICKUP PUMP ANY IDEAS ABOUT THIS GLITCH . THANKS FOR ANY HELP IN ADVANCE............
It would most likely be an injector not functioning properly. With the puff of white smoke indicating the fuel is dripping instead of atomizing at the point of injection. The other possibility would be a cylinder with low compression. Usually that will cause a dead miss but I have seen them be intermittent at first. I would try to crack the lines at the injectors individually while its running and see if I could determine which injector is faulty. Then have that injector tested for the problem.
