Boy do I feel LUCKY/Speed change detent on 450B

Post by rock digger » Sun Mar 10, 2013 10:12 pm

Hey Guys;

I finally got to working on my 450b with no power to left side, I was surprised at what I found and also very happy that was what it was.

After I took off the sprocket gaurd I found that ALL nine bolts were gone! nowhere to be found? There were three out of the nine I had to rethread but all worked out well and it is back together in the shop. Yes I did remove the other side and retorqe the bolt to 300lbs.

On another subject now that I have it in the shop I am checking over other things. My speed change lever(on the left side/battery side) likes to drift out of range and into nuetral sometimes, I know there is a detent but does not seem to hold. Is there a way to adjust this? Or is it inside the case? If so is it hard to access?

Any Ideas where to look? Thanks Rock Digger

the detent spring is possibly broken there is a plug in the side of the trans where the shifter goes in that has a spring and ball under it

Is this plug above the fluid level in the trans? or do I need to drain down?

Thanks for the info. Rock Digger
