To All:
I stumbled into a Model # 450CA...serial # 200158T today (March 18th).
A very clean straight and underused machine. First owner was the Iowa DNR. Second owner is the dealership.
Found it in a back lot of a dealership and they knew little to nothing regarding the machine.
Hour meter appears to be working and is at 1511 hrs.
Is a loader machine with winch and log arch.
Does the "A" in the model number = "Arch"?
Am I reading the past posts regarding serial numbers, and date of manufacture, as this being a "1974" and with dry clutches?
Eager for any, and all, input.
Thank you all in advance.
Kevin From Iowa.

1975 450C. 1977 450CA loader, with winch and log arch. Is true..tracked equipment is addicting.
Kevin, I believe that the A stands for loader. B,C,D, all are models with the three different dozer types and, E is for a draw bar tractor.
I doubt it will have dry clutches, I think the C version was when Deere went to wet clutches.
I assume it has a rops?
Is in your yard yet?

They don't have a clue what they have. I went to look at an excavator and could see the top of the EROPS of the 450 standing up over some other machines. I finally escorted the salesman to the very back of the lot and it is sitting with a dozen or so dead and burnt out skid-loaders.
All of the gauges are intact. No play or slop in the linkage. Metal is straight.
Has lights, loader, winch, drawbar, log-arch, ROPS, a good seat and arm rests.
Drawbar isn't egged out either
They were unsure of the date of manufacture...one time it was a "1978" and another a "1975"...mentioned to them "I'd find out and let them know"....
I knew it looked like our other 450 (only better)...but was/am very unsure of the clutches.
I'll strive to gather some pics before weeks end.
Tag does say "Dubuque"
