track frame / cross member bushings 350b
track frame / cross member bushings 350b
How do you guys recomend repairing the worn out bushings in the cross member holes on a 350b. Do I machine new bushings to the size of the worn holes in the cross member or is there another trick I am missing? I am assuming the bushing should fit snug and the height of the bushing should be such that it provides clamp load to the top. What should I make them out of? I want the bushing to wear and not the cross member so I am thinking CRS? Any ideas?
There are quite a few threads on this, the general consensus is to remove the bushing and bolt the cross member solid. Some even go so far as to weld it down (although I did not do that). The 1" or so of travel you get from having the bushing doesn't seem helpful in the long run.

Bushing Rebuild
I am going to have some bushing made for my own 350C, I'm going for original on this crawler.
We've welded many down, nothing wrong with grinding the bushing height down, using oversize washers and lightly weld it. We bolt and weld all of our widepads as its the only way to keep them together.
