JD450B undertray or ? hanging
Backing up my JD450B in dirt and it bogs.
I look underneath, and there is some component hanging, completely covered in dirt of course. Is it an under tray of some kind?
I have the technical manual, just hoping to have someone identify the likely component. Is there an under tray?
What is the best way to work on this? I don't know that I could fit under anyways, but the idea is definitely intimidating.

Hopefully you have not bent the belly pans. They are tough to straighten out. I had to park a crawler on one and use my skidsteer bucket to bend and beat it into shape. Went back on OK once I got the twist out of it.

railroad ties sound like a plan, presuming I can find some, I suspect they are heavy, but a car trailer could carry a couple, right? I just need to get them on it.....
I suspect it is the belly pan(s), that would make sense to me, Perhaps chain them to a tree and drive away from it....?

You'll need jacks to lift it, they are quite heavy. Just an FYI, I found mine loose, I never even hung it and I still needed a bottle jack just to raise it into position. My 450c uses 5/8 x 1 1/2" bolts to attach it to the frame.
If you have drove a large amount of dirt up between the pan and the frame / transmission you might want to consider a power washer to clean it out.

A gas engine power washer might draw water from a barrel or other container as long as you have it above the inlet of the washer.

Thanks, a good thought, as I do have the power washer, I would just need to get the water there. At one point I was considering bringing water up in the truck, maybe I have a reason to do so now. Any thoughts on a cheap secure safe way of carrying water in the back of a pickup truck?

A good clean 55 gallon drum will work. If it is something you plan on doing on a regular basis, a new plastic tank with some plumbing and a valve would work great. Then if you want to put a gas engine pump on there for other uses, you are ready to go.

They make 250 gallon poly stock tanks that fit over the wheel wells in a pickup bed- may be a little more cost but will better distribute the load over the bed of you want more water than a 55 gallon drum and can be plumbed to standard fittings/pumps/etc.srshaw3 wrote:Any thoughts on a cheap secure safe way of carrying water in the back of a pickup truck?

i dont know about where you are at but here on the west coast home depots have ties.. a couple of 6x6s 8' long with a 2x6x8 or 2 depends how much room you want ( or like some of us NEED ) nailed on top will do also
2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper
Here you can go to the local ag stores ( the ones that sell liquid type fertilizer ) and pick up huge poly cubes. Mine is 4 feet cubed inside a metal cage and I paid 20 dollars for it. It even had a shut off valve on the bottom, I just had to buy a couple of reducers to get down from the 2" to a garden hose. You can move them empty by hand into your truck and fill them up.
