450C Loader Trans Temp Sensor Location
450C Loader Trans Temp Sensor Location
Hello all, new to the board. Have the manuals but have yet to find the location of the trans temp sensor for the gauge on dash. Can anyone please point me in the correct location.

Or be very fast replacing the sensor.... My intention is to find sensor, attach the wire, if is missing which I believe it is, replace the temp gauge with a new Autometer type and see if the sensor is comparable Autometer gauge, if not I'll replace the sensor with the Autometer Sensor. The only gauge that somewhat works is the oil pressure, which was replaced with an aftermarket gauge of some sort.77 Ford wrote:FYI, you'll need to drain the fluid from the transmission before you can remove the plate or the sensor. That area is well below the fill level.
Again thanks for the info.

Drloch, my dad has a 1977 450c loader and the trans temp sensor is in the trans filter cover. Right side of tractor under floor pan. its between skid pan and chassis. It's triangular a looking cover and the sensor is in the top of the cover. I think the bolts are spaced so that it only goes on one way. Its sort of a pain to get the three bolts out but it can be done. hope this helps Sabaro.
I have found the senor, thanks all. I believe I'm going to wait until I do a transmission oil change before I replace the sensor. I have had thoughts of putting the sensor up by the filter ahead of the cooler since its easier to get at and the wire would be less likely to be ripped off by debris. Anyone had tried that?

if you have not tried this yet and you still have the dash unit installed try hooking it back up a lot of times the wire just gets torn off but every thing is still in working condition

Understood.. I'm not running the machine that hard right now. I've been running down hydraulic leaks right now and I may have to pull the belly pan at some point. Just fixed one major leak point, at some point someone replaced the pump pressure hard line after initial line with a hose, which I would understand. If the machine is flexing, with a hard line from the pump to the valve bank inlet a hard line will probably break or fracture at some point in the machines life depending on use. Well they needed a street ell to make a turn and drop down to where the line runs next to the frame rail, guess what type of street ell they used? they went down to Home depot, Lowes, make your choice and got a galvanized 1" street ell and used that....... I'm sure you know the end results of that..... Had to pull the grille shell to get enough room to get at the fitting and replace it. Didn't know for sure if it was a 1" FNPT - MNPT fitting or not so I got one of those and a 1" FMPT - JIC . Turned out being the 1" FNPT - MNPT street ell than the latter. I always tend to over buy stuff like that since I want to be sure I have the rights parts available to make the fix.jtrichard wrote:sounds like its toast ... you just have to be good and fast and you can change it with out much oil loss
Waiting for the weather to clear-up, raining in NC, I have a couple of stumps I need to remove so I will give it a work out again and watch the fluid level.
