Important enough that I'm starting a new thread
couldn't figure out why I things never seemed right after I redid the R final drive... (see previous threads). After I took it apart, also couldn't figure out why some of the notches were broke off of the first 2 or 3 disks. The manual that I have says nothing about putting the snap ring after the FIRST fiber disk... and neither does the parts schematic.
Following the manual and schematic closely.. put the first side together.. and did a bit of experimenting with clearances on the 2nd side.. remembered something about questions with order and decided to take a look. Took apart the first one again, and saw the broken disk. Checked this site and ... yep.. you guys were right. (luckily broke only one disk)
Long story short.. Thanks guys.... And Thanks Lavoy for putting up with us on this site!

I don't remember exactly how it was when I took it apart. But what do you think about that worn hub that I posted earlier with the groove in it. Do you think that if the bronze disks were put in the same way, (with none of them put behind the snap ring) that it could cause that damage? ( I keep going back and forth, but I would like some other peoples input just for the confidence.

No, that damage is from the outside. Look at your spring cups on the pressure plate, see how the one is worn through? Pressure plate should not rub against the hub, guessing you had a snap ring missing. I guess I would not run that hub if I didn't have to.

Never mind, I am an idiot, the snap ring I am thinking of is on the 1010 and older crawlers. On a 350, it is the snap ring that is down inside of the drum between the first and second fiber that does the job.
Something had to be assembled wrong to let the hub come out far enough to chew up the pressure plate if that is what did the damage.

what I was thinking was.. if the bronze disk was on top of the snap ring, it might have kept the hub out far enough that the hub scraped on the spring "cups"... Then wore enough that the spring hit the hub keeping the wear going so that it was able to keep going that deep.
someone else suggested that the inner bearing inside the hub might be the culprit (that one seemed ok, but I still replaced it)
another suggested the bearing just under the quill inside the transmission might be it... It didn't show any signs that anything rubbed inside that "tube"

the snap ring needs to be between the first fiber/bronze and the second one that's what locates the center hub... if it was between 2/3 or 3/4 then it will put the hub into the pressure plate for sure and the first fiber will be doing nothing as it will not be engaged in to the hub

Not a bearing issue, if it was, you would have a lot more damage on some other parts.
