Post by Mike B » Sun Jan 26, 2014 5:05 pm

Does anyone have dimensions for safety supports to put over lift arm rams to hold up lift arms when working on front of 450. I have to work on front of a 450 straight I have bought in order to bring it home, but don't have have it here to measure. Thanks

What I did was was weld 2 pieces of angle iron together to lay over the cylinder rods. I believe it was 1-1/2 1/4" angle.

I just built a new one this weekend.

The cylinder rod is 2 1/4" in diameter. I went with 22" long as my shop is only 12 feet tall, could go 24"

I used some rectangular tubbing about 2 1/2" ID on the short side and used a Zip disk to make a u channel. Finished it off by drilling 2 bolt holes as retainers so it can't slip out.

My dad is doing a steering clutch in a 450C loader this week.

Safety

Nice to see others are using this essential piece of equipment as well.

What ever you use, make sure it is secured in place and also cannot damage the cylinder seal.
