Straight 350 hydrolic issues with filters

Post by JimmyFunk » Mon May 05, 2014 5:29 pm

New to me 350 and still going threw everything. Read in my manual that the pion top cover comes up when oil flow is restricted. My pin is all the way up and has a roll pin through it keeping it up. So I decided to investigate. Hoping that someone just didn't change the bottom filter and the answer was to just use the bypass. Any way I pulled all 6 bolts out, however when I went to pull it out it does not pull straight up. Feels like it is caught on something in the back. Any ideas or tips? I stopped at this point and figured I would ask the pros. Thanks a head of time.

Hi,

Just letting you know, your post is being read. In my case, I do not know what you are referring to. I have not had a 350 in decades, having sold mine off in the mid 90s. But, then, mine was a 68 with gear transmission and outside blade and dry clutches. I think you might be referring to something regarding the reverser, which I did not have, or maybe the wet clutches, which I also did not have. My hydraulics were tank, pump, valve and two blade cylinders.

Not sure of the similarities but my 450B has similar set-up. There is a pipe he cap fits over that has an o-ring: perhaps you're feeling the resistance of that?
Looking at deere's parts website may give an exploded view (they have my 450).

I just went through the same thing. Do not take the Roll pin out like I did. That releases the check valve into the tube below. It is just the resistance of that check valve housing coming off the tube in the tank or possibly the filter cartridge being hung up on the lip of the tank as mine was. A little pressure with a pry bar and some wiggling and it should come up.

can you get a pic of that rod that has the roll pin in it? it should not be up when the tractor is off.... only time it should come up is when (running) and the filter is plugged or it will come up some when very cold... it is really just a pressure gauge
